Hey there power-metal fans! This week we present to you, The Mirage Theory and their 8+ minute single, "Our Secular Devotion." This Puerto Rican sextet's sole MySpace presentation takes the listener on a ride from the soaring heights of their solos to the quiet valley of the vocal break-down around minute four.
The relatively high play count on "Our Secular Devotion" is not simply the result of it being the page's only option however - the production value of the track is surprisingly high and the band is nothing if not tight. A word of warning: these guys are serious about their progressive metalcore.
Check out The Mirage Theory at their MySpace page and if you're in Puerto Rico on July 21st, check out their show in Catano.

Here at the LimeWire Music Blog we periodically receive links to MySpace pages by independent artists looking to gain exposure. Every week we’ll post about one of these Unknown Unknowns.
Not to be confused with the new age singer/storyteller of the same name, Mirabai is an all-girl folk-rock group hailing from Austin, Texas. They take their name from the prolific sixteenth century Indian religious poet and songwriter - unlike her, these ladies veer more toward the irreverent than the pious. At times bluesy, at times riot-grrrl, Mirabai is probably closest in spirit to the folk-punk of This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, albeit with a heavy dose of Ani DiFranco.
Take a listen at their MySpace page where they've made several tracks available for download. My preference among the four is "Big Money Man," which plays with their inherent genre-tensions.
If you like what you hear, get in touch with them and order a CD.
