What You're Doing Tonight - 1/22/08

aesop.jpgSpend too much money over the long weekend? Myspace has got you covered tonight, as they put on one of their free "Secret Shows" at Southpaw. Brooklyn's own Aesop Rock takes the stage with his catchy hip-hop and intelligent lyrics. The show starts at 8, but space is limited, so get there early.

At Mercury Lounge, British songwriter Jack Peñate will be playing tunes from his new album Matinee, which hits shelves today (our review). Come see if Peñate has what it takes to revitalize the rockabilly genre. Also on the bill is retro pop group The Postelles. Tickets are $10, and doors open at 8.

Down at Bowery Ballroom, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will play a benefit for Planned Parenthood. Tickets are sold out, but there are a few floating around Craigslist. Doors open at 7.
