Snooze Fest Short List
Today the artists on the Shortlist Music Prize were announced, among those the Arcade Fire, Justice, Feist and...zzzzzzzz....oh, sorry, I feel asleep at my desk there. I don't know about you, but after spending the entire month of December reading everyone's Top 10 list of albums from 2007, seeing the same acts over and over again is forcing my eyes to close quicker and quicker. Sure, the Shortlist Music Prize is sort of a fun, quirky idea, originally intended to upset the pop boom of the 90's, but come ON people. Of the acts listed, which, might I add, are voted upon by the apparent taste-makers of the industry, Burial was the only cool inclusion. Haven't Arcade Fire and Feist been on this list already? Are people not realizing the fact that Justice isn't that good, and that Stars albums could be mashed up together to sound, well, exactly the same?
Maybe I'm just bitter.
Below is the complete list of the Shortlist Music Prize nominees. Who would you pick instead? Who would you vote for here? Am I just totally list-ed out at this point?

What, no Radiohead? What a complete outrage! Just kidding of course. I'm sort stunned at all the love "Neon Bible" has gotten; that record is a real drag. But, that's the tyranny of conventional wisdom for you. I personally would nominate the Cribs, but i don't think people like rock music all that much right now. Which is okay, it's nice to have some things to yourself.
