Pitchfork Music Festival = ATP Redux?

The Pitchfork Music Festival has announced its initial line up—and it’s looking an awful lot like the line up for last year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties New York. But the event, which takes place July 17-19th in Chicago, won’t include the ATP co-sponsored “Don’t Look Back” night of bands playing their classic albums. Instead, something called “Write the Night: Set Lists by Request” will allow attendees to vote on which songs they’d like Built to Spill, Tortoise, Yo La Tengo and the Jesus Lizard to play on the 17th. Never mind that the first three of these bands already shared a stage at ATP New York’s “Don’t Look Back” night last September.

Bands confirmed for the 18th and 19th include the National, Pharoahe Monch, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, the Vivian Girls, the Walkmen and Grizzly Bear

Those interested in voting on songs will have to purchase their tickets first, starting March 13th. After shelling out the cash, buyers can cast their vote via a link in their confirmation e-mail. Voting ends June 12.
