Comic Geeks Even Psyched About Watchmen Soundtrack

Forgive me for openly revealing the inner-geek, but I’m not sure there’s ever been a movie I’ve been more psyched for than The Watchmen. Seriously, I’m giddy. And I’m not the only one. I don’t think there’s ever been a comic as eagerly awaited for cinematic adaptation: most of us have been blathering about possibilities since the moment we got to that final page of the 12-issue magnum opus, waiting through the various frustrated would-be filmmakers, be it Terry Gilliam or Darren Aronofsky. But so, after all these years, we have settled on Zack Snyder, for better or worse. While Snyder’s probably racist muscle-porn 300 left some comic dorks like myself a little cold, I certainly can say that the guy is a purist about his source material. And according to Billboard, this literalism extends right down to the Watchmen’s soundtrack (if you can forgive My Chemical Romance’s adolescently irritating “Desolation Row” cover…). Fans of the original comic will recognize songs written into the plot or referenced by writer Alan Moore, including Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable,” Bob Dylan’s (thankfully) original version of “The Times They Are A-Changin,” and “Ride of the Valkyries.” Perhaps the best wink moment for fans of the comic include Nina Simone’s version of the Brecht/Wild classic “Pirate Jenny.” Hundreds of us are secretly mumbling to ourselves: “Raw shark! Raw shark!”

I was looking for the best deal on the Watchmen soundtrack, both the score and the songs from the movie.
At Amazon.com yesterday I was able to buy to soundtrack for only $6.99. So if you’re looking to get it, that’s the place!
