Playboy's Annual Music Issue Hits Stands

Posted on February 25, 2008

playboypick.gifA promo copy of Playboy landed in my work mailbox this morning, leading to confused/curious stares from co-workers. The magazine was sent to stir up excitement *cough cough* for March's annual music issue, which features a section dedicated to the year in rock and hip-hop. The eight-page feature includes a list of upcoming bands to watch (the bunny likes Vampire Weekend), a few interviews (words from Ghostland Observatory, The Raveonettes, Jamie T, etc), and the 2008 Playboy Music Awards (Radiohead's proudest moment).

The feature also showcases designs from the Rock the Rabbit initiative, which had numerous indie, rock, and hip-hop stars create their own visual interpretations of the iconic Playboy bunny. The graphics will be printed on T-shirts and sold in Bloomingdale's, with all proceeds going to RockTheVote.Com. Daft Punk's robotic rabbits is my favorite. You can view the entire gallery here, which includes images from Iggy Pop, The Heavy, and many more. The featured bands participated in a Mick Rock photoshoot -- check out the behind the scenes footage.
