Plug Awards 2008

Posted on March 07, 2008

Plug5.jpgLast night, Terminal 5 hosted the 2008 Plug Awards, a now-annual event honoring the best in indie rock. The event featured performances from experimental beat-maker Divinci, simplistic rockers White Denim, angelic vocalist St. Vincent, acoustic wielding Jose Gonzalez, local favorites The Forms, and Brit-hop kid Dizzee Rascal. Stout comedian Patton Oswalt hosted the award show, filling in the gaps with surprisingly funny commentary (hipsters are a good target). The sold out crowd was mostly there for headliners Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, who capped the event with an 11 song set. The event is streaming in its entirety over at Dell Lounge.

Under the cut, you'll find a list of bands/music publications/labels/etc who took home awards last night. For the most part, I was pleased with the results - - glad that Battles, Gogol Bordello and Andrew Bird were recognized for their art this year.
