Moby Announces New Album, Collaborates with David Lynch
Moby is one prolific dude. He dropped a great DJ mix, Last Night Remixed, at the end of 2008, and will release his next album, Wait For Me, on June 30th. The new album coincidentally arrives on the tenth anniversary of his groundbreaking Play. The Bald Wonder apparently produced the album in his bedroom studio and asked some of his friends to handle vocals. “In making this record I wanted to focus on making something that I loved, without really being concerned about how it might be received by the marketplace,” Moby wrote on his blog. “As a result it’s a quieter and more melodic and more mournful and more personal record than some of the records I’ve made in the past.”
The venerable DJ/producer has unveiled the video for “Shot in the Back of the Head” — the MP3 is available for free download on Moby.com – which was created by none other than David Lynch. It’s quite a visual treat. If you need to get a fix of his music right away and live in the New York City area, Moby will perform a rare ambient set at a benefit show tomorrow night in Brooklyn.
