Little-known fact: legendary Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen promised us a tour as long as he got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and now that the powers that be have done good by him, we've got our tour. This may be more of a "theory" than a "fact", but bear with me here. It's good to hear from Cohen again, tour-wise ... it's only been uh, 15 years! Coincidentally, Cohen's song Hallelujah as performed by Jeff Buckley shot to the top of the iTunes download charts this month after being featured on American Idol. Here's your chance to hear the real deal, as only the gravelly-voiced songmaster can do it. Sadly, there are no New York dates yet, but wait for it. After 15 years, why not go all out, Mr. Cohen? I for one, am keeping the faith, based on rumblings of a North American tour and a new album. In the meantime, I am going to dig up my copy of Songs of Love and Hate. You should too.
