Dirty Projectors Tour, Cover Bjork, Adopt No Kids

Posted on April 01, 2008

dirty projectors.jpgWatch out, North America! Brooklyn's very own Dirty Projectors are about to embark upon a two-week, 12-date tour of the US and Canada, hitting up major cities like Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco... and, um, Princeton, New Jersey, where they'll be serenading members of the Terrace F. eating club. I wish I was making this up, but I'm totally for real. But don't fret, New Yorkers--the band's Ivy League stop won't prevent them from playing a hometown show on April 9 (that's next Wednesday!) at that new Bowery Ballroom doppelganger the kids are calling the Music Hall of Williamsburg.

Along for most of the ride will be Vancouver's upbeat, cowbell-toting No Kids. A lucky Philly audience will get to see Dirty Projectors and Man Man on the same bill. And for those who prefer to see all 908 of their favorite bands on one sweat-soaked, heat-stroked weekend, Dirty Projectors have also been added to the Pitchfork Music Festival this July. Full tour dates are under the cut.

While Dirty Projectors don't have a new album to support (just go back and listed to last year's majestic Rise Above, okay?), they have released a cover of Bjork's "Hyperballad." It's all part of Stereogum's tribute to the Icelandic songstress's breakthrough album Post, which also features tracks by the likes of No Age, Xiu Xiu, and High Places. Check that out here.
