I don’t want to, like, defame her character or whatever, but Alanis Morissette seems like the kind of girl who knows how to kick back with a bong and some Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVDs. Maybe it’s all that latter-day Earth Mother stuff she’s been trying to pull since convincing us she’s done being angry. Anyway, Morissette is poised to up her stoner cred another notch: She’s taken a role on Showtime’s chronically shark-jumping chronic chronicles, Weeds. Morissette will be playing Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) OB-GYN, Audra Gibson. Entertainment Weekly reports that she’ll be appearing on at least seven episodes in the series’ upcoming fifth season (which begins June 8th) and may reprise her role in season six.

And that’s not all. Lucky Showtime viewers may also catch a glimpse of Alanis Morissette’s butt–or, as EW quotes an unnamed insider, the lady who brought us “You Oughta Know” may have consented to “some tasteful nudity.” Apparently, Audra may be jumping in the sack with Nancy’s brother-in-law, Andy (Justin Kirk).

As Kevin Smith fans will remember, Morissette has already done some high-profile acting–notably, she played God in the director’s meaning-of-life film, Dogma. This won’t be her first stint on premium cable, either. I’m ashamed to admit that I vividly remember her guest spot on Sex and the City, as a spin-the-bottle-playing friend of Carrie’s bisexual beau.
