Something's Phish-y

Posted on April 10, 2008

phish1_f.jpg Can you name one song by Phish? I couldn’t even if my life depended upon it. My knowledge gap in the jamband world isn’t stopping the folks at the Jammy Awards from presenting the band with a lifetime achievement award at the seventh annual shindig taking place on May 7 at the Wamu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

The event will be co-hosted by Warren Haynes and Grace Potter and will feature performances from Booker T. Jones, Christian McBride, Fab Faux, Galactic, Glenn Tillbrook of Squeeze, HeadCount All-Stars, Jake Cinninger of Umphrey's McGee, James Carter, Joe Russo, Jon Gutwillig, Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident, Los Lonely Boys, Marc Brownstein, Matisyahu, Page McConnell, Rose Hill Drive, Sharon Jones, Tea Leaf Green and Todd Park Mohr.

Obligatory press gush from Jammys producer Jonathan Schwartz: "We're ecstatic with the initial Jammys lineup. The level of musicianship and the community of artists coming together at the Jammy Awards is something that we're all proud of. From Booker T. and Sharon Jones to Galactic and Page McConnell, this year is stacked."
