Stream: Coalesce “Ox”

coalesce2Kansas City’s chosen sons are back, after a decade long hiatus.  It was 1999 when Coalesce unveiled their backhanded assault on hardcore, ironically in the form of one of the greatest hardcore/metal/extremely bad-ass records of all time, 012: A Revolution In Just Listening. Full of snide dissembles on the state of the scene as well as stop-in-your-tracks math switch-ups and killer Sabbath-inspired riffage, it was a fitting swan song for both the end of an era and a great band.  Despite a handful of “reunion” shows since (and I can personally say that I totally dug their 2002 toss-together at CBGB, which I attended alone because I could not beg nor bribe anyone I knew to go to a hardcore show) their newest Ox marks an honest to God full-time return of the legendary group.  The album is due out June 9th, but is streaming now on Lambgoat.  Meanwhile, Coalesce has already announced dates through July in Europe (where metal still stalks the Earth wild) with promises of U.S. dates through August.  Don’t keep your fingers crossed – that’s how shit gets broken on the dance floor.
