Last time I went to a New York Magazine event, I watched fellow concertgoers sing karaoke with the Thermals, got a free subscription to the magazine (tricky!), and left with sticky shoes. Though I felt the need to hide the magazine's cover (scantily clad cast of Gossip Girl, anyone?) as I read it on the subway this morning, they've definitely got their nightlife down pat. Their latest cultural concoction is a night of Indie Rock Trivia, hosted by none other than my favorite bearded comedian, Zach Galifianakis. I love him so much that I spell his name correctly after only two attempts. The questions were compiled by a crew of "secret rock geniuses," and there are "super-fantabulous-over-the-top prizes" to be won, according to New York. But hey, even if you don't know Black Mountain's drummer's middle name, think of this as a consolation prize: Brooklyn's own Les Savy Fav will close down the night with a live show. How can you go wrong? I mean, I suppose if you hate trivia, comedy and rock shows, you could ... in which case you should probably stay home.
