Andrew W.K. To Party At Own Venue
by Ben Gold
Attention New Yorkers who love to party: this could be the most important blog post you read all day. Maybe ever! As some of you may already know, for almost two years now Andrew W.K. has been trying to open a new music venue at 100 Lafayette Street in Manhattan. Well, their liquor license has finally been approved, and according to New York Magazine’s food blog Grub Street, revelers could have their face’s melted as soon as this week.
Andrew W.K. has had a tough time bringing the space, which at one point may or may not have been called Santa’s Party House, to fruition. They had their license (tentatively) approved way back in 2006, only to have it revoked a year later due to paperwork that had not been submitted to the State Liquor Authority. Thankfully, though, AndrewW.K. and Co. got it together, because any venue run by a man who has based his entire career on his love of party would surely be a welcome addition to the city.
Last year Andrew W.K. told C.M.J., "This is something I always wanted to do, have a space for all types of people to come and be creative, relax, and have their minds blown.” Whatever, I’m not sure what that means but I'm totally there.
