Music News from New York and Beyond

What You're Doing Tonight - 5/2/08

Posted on May 02, 2008

It's going to be a busy weekend for NYC rock. Here are some options:

rjd2live.jpgTonight: The Hold Steady @ Webster Hall: Famed music supervisor Alex Patsavas throws her annual Tribeca Film Festival concert tonight. Bass-lovin' rockers The Virgins co-headline.

Chester French @ Studio B: Studio B introduces their new roof top garden with a performance from leisure suit wearing pop kid Chester French. Brazilian Girls also perform. Note: Spank Rock was originally supposed to play this, but had to cancel.

RJD2 @ Bowery Ballroom: Every time I go to an RJD2 show, I'm hoping to see at least one droid. Regardless, his shows are always a treat on the senses filled with great remixes and background visuals.

TomorrowBamboozle @ Meadowlands: Every pop-punk band that matters will flock to Jersey for this two day festival. Click the link for a full list of Saturday's bands.

Bowery Riots @ Don Hills: Clad in zoot suits and fedoras, this local big band debut their new tunes at Michael T's Rated X party (I hear there's a hot body contest after?). Stalkers headline.

The Teenagers @ Music Hall of Williamsburg: The Parisian trio bring their dirty mouths and snarky pop to the Brooklyn venue. Panties will be lost.
