Video: MTV Discovers My Favorite Bands, But Who's Psychedelic Horse***?
Now that No Age has released their first "real" album, Nouns, everyone is catching on to the so-called "lo-fi punk" scene (which is actually several different scenes, in several different cities, with several different sounds, but no matter). But perhaps the most frightening manifestation of the new vogue is this new MTV.com video. In "Choosing to Go Lo-Fi," John Norris, who is valiantly attempting to cover his age with a mid-'90s bleach job, interviews Times New Viking, Jay Reatard, Tyvek, Psychedelic Horseshit (though, hilariously, MTV has starred out the "shit" part), and, of course, No Age. One can only assume that TRL-loving kiddies everywhere are learning that not all music comes pre-packaged and pitch corrected.
I'm all for that, and I don't want to get into a game of finger-pointing and calling people sellouts. I just hope that when Times New Viking comes back to New York on June 27, the crowd isn't full of baseball cap-wearing jocks who spill their beer on my head.

I think Psychedelic Horseshit have a split with Times New Viking...
