JetBlue Flies High With Live From T5 Concert Series

Once upon a time, your only options for entertainment during downtime at an airport were watching the flight times get pushed further and further back on the departures screen or eavesdropping on the couple sitting next to you, as they waged a vicious battle over who was supposed to remember where they left the car in the long-term lot. Those days are no more, now that JetBlue has partnered with Superfly Productions — the folks behind Bonnaroo and the Outside Lands festival — to present the Live From T5 concert series.
On selected Fridays throughout the year, JetBlue’s new Terminal 5 at New York’s JFK airport will host live music events, with the help of Superfly. Some of the performers will be up-and-comers chosen by Superfly, like Americana troubadour Justin Townes Earle (son of alt-country icon Steve) and New Jersey songbird Nicole Atkins, while others will be picked in conjunction with the OurStage.com contest. The competition is open to all comers, who can enter by uploading a song at www.Ourstage.com/go/jetblue, where winners will be determined by online voting. In addition to a slot in the series, the victors will also be given an opening slot at one of New York’s prestigious Bowery Presents venues, which include — you guessed it — the Hell’s Kitchen hotspot Terminal 5. Just don’t arrive at that latter location expecting to be transported by anything other than the music.
