L Magazine Showcases New York
In case you missed it, The L Magazine picked the "8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear" a few weeks ago, and now will leave it up to the city to judge when they showcase a couple of them at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg on June 5. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I've kept a close eye on this city's scene for the past few years, and I am quite pleased with their choices. Specifically, vaudeville-esque boy girl group The Lisps are both entertaining and imaginitive, and has been working their little butts off this year in promotion of their new album Country Doctor Museum. It's so fabulous to see them finally get their due.
Whilst I still applaud The L Magazine's list, there are a few that I feel have been left off. Some of my choice cuts? Bands like The Undisputed Heavyweights, A Brief Smile and The Diggs come to mind. Either way, I'm sure the show will be a fun time, so get on out and support your local bands!

That list of 8 bands was so fucking far off. Wow. Quirky. Poppy. And most wear dress pants or sport coats! Give me a fucking break. This city sucks for music.
