All Tomorrow's Parties Adds Great Bands, Sells More Tickets!
I've already been gloating over my All Tomorrow's Parties ticket for a few weeks now. But today I have even more reason to brag. The festival has announced a few more bands, and they are nothing short of fucking amazing.
DINOSAUR JR
MERCURY REV
HARMONIA
LILYS
YO LA TENGO
GROWING
OM
Now, I know you understand what heavyweights Dinosaur Jr., Yo La Tengo, and Mercury Rev are. But here's a short primer for the uninitiated on the other four fantastic bands that have been tapped for ATP.
Growing--A largely instrumental psych-drone duo out of Olympia, WA.
Om--More droning, this time with the addition of spiritual chanting and Eastern influences.
Lilys--Kurt Heasley's long-running shoegaze band, in the tradition of (who else?) My Bloody Valentine.
Harmonia--Perhaps the strangest and most interesting band on the ATP bill, Harmonia was a collaboration between members of '70s krautrock bands Cluster and Neu! Their experimentations prompted Brian Eno to call them "the world's most important rock band."
So get excited, everyone! ATP takes place September 19-21 at Kutschers Country Resort in the Catskills. Tickets are on sale here. And while accommodations at Kutschers are all sold out, rooms for three and four at the nearby Raleigh Hotel are selling for $508.50 and $678, respectively.
