As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm pretty much game to go anywhere as long as there's something unusual about the venue…as curmudgeonly as I might be at times. Ask me to go to the Mercury Lounge on a Friday night, and 8 times out of 10, I ain't interested. But ask me to go hear "Bill's" band in a stinky, dank basement in the South Bronx, I might not know Bill, but I'll be curious to visit a never before seen place. So when my sweet-voiced friend, Alexa Wilding, invited me to come and hear her play an impromptu acoustic set at a cocktail party in an unfinished apartment in the original Tiffany Building in Union Square, I said, "What time?"

The party was hosted by a professional party throwing collective, the Supper Club (no affiliation with the club of the same name. And lots of my favorite things were featured: free food, free booze, and a swanky apartment to explore. The party was in the model residence of the building currently under construction. If you have a few million to spare, I highly recommend the central location, the easy access to the farmer’s market and the high high ceilings... DSC_0114 DSC_0118

When "downtown notables" gather in swanky places, they make themselves right at home.

It was a tough crowd, Alexa’s music is soft and delicate, and the din of conversation didn’t let up for a second. When Alexa plays a club show, she has often has members of Television sit in with her.

Seriously though, look at this apartment.

When we lost power in the apartment, the party continued in the dark, until the hooch ran out.
