Mixtape Stream: Carrie Brownstein (Ex-Sleater-Kinney)'s Monitor Mix Picks on NPR

Posted on May 15, 2008

carrie brownstein.jpgNPR has made some serious headway lately in terms of its music coverage, but I think this is one of their coolest ventures yet. Carrie Brownstein, former guitarist/vocalist of the dearly departed Sleater-Kinney, has a feature on npr.org in which she essentially blogs about music, discussing everything from the meaning of lyrics in our lives to her favorite listening devices for different genres of music. Remember, this is radio, and public radio at that, so her project, entitled Monitor Mix, also includes a healthy dose of nice, meaty audio content. In this case, Carrie has posted the second of two streaming mixtapes, which you can listen to right here. It's called "Days, Be More Than All We Have", and features tracks from Television, Cody Chesnutt, and Pylon. Carrie, I'd follow you anywhere. Just keep cranking these puppies out, m'dear.
