Help The Need/The King Cobra’s Rachel Carns Fight Cancer
Today brings sad news via Kill Rock Stars’ Twitter. Rachel Carns, the queer musician and artist, has cancer. You may not know Carns by name, but she’s been a fixture of the indie music world for the past two decades. Although best known for playing drums and keyboard in ’90s queercore act The Need, she has also been active in bands including Kicking Giant, The King Cobra and TWIN.
But, obviously, the life of an artist and musician often involves little money and difficulties obtaining adequate and affordable health insurance. So Carns needs some cash, quick. The donation page of The Need’s website reads: “Rachel is surviving cancer. You can help her have a nice rest-of-her-life by donating a little cash-ola to pay back some mega medical bills. Thanks!” Hopefully the fan community will come through for her.
Meanwhile, for those who may be on the fence about donating, here’s a vintage Need video to help convince you:
