James Blunt is Just Too Awesome for Weird Al’s 2-CD “Essential” Collection

weirdal\\Oh my god. Really, James Blunt? Are you not aware that the beloved and lost pop icon Michael Jackson was okay with having “Beat It” parodied by one Weird Al Yankovic? Are you really such an artiste that you can’t have your super-soporific masterpiece “You’re Beautiful” stand a little ribbing on Weird Al Yankovic’s Essential 2-CD Collection? Seriously, just eat it. Just eat it, James Blunt(’s manager).

Al Yankovic, while no Ashton Kutcher, seems to enjoy a good Twitter session from time to time, and yesterday felt that he should share the response he received from James Blunt’s manager when he asked to include his parody of the Blunt tune named above, entitled “You’re Pitiful.” Ahem: “Thanks for your email, but both James and I will never approve this parody to be released on any label.” Rrrrreeeoowww! I mean, at least he didn’t pull a Coolio and pretend he never approved, but James Blunt’s management could learn a thing or two from his less serious acoustic man-ballad buddies. (Did somebody say “John Mayer?”)

Anyway, you can listen to the song for free on Weird Al’s website, since he’s technically performing it as a parody and won’t make any money off it.

Weird Al Yankovic – “You’re Pitiful”

Christ, lighten up, James Blunt. Even NPR thinks it’s funny.

Although Weird Al has done some great paradies, I was really disappointed by his lame take on Blunt’s song. I wouldn’t approve it either!

Al – don’t rest on your laurels! Put some effort in, or else you deserve to be told by some eggy manager to bog off!

And while you’re at it, don’t then sulk on Twatter. You sound like a knitwit. Sorry.

James Blunt actually approved the parody, but the record label wouldn’t let Al release it commercially. That’s why Al put it up for free.

I still think they can legally include it.
