DJ Jazzy Jeff Becomes A “Hero”
Damn, y’all are gonna go and make me buy an Xbox, huh? The already stacked line-up for the follow-up to the mega-successful Guitar Hero series entitled DJ Hero just got a little doper, adding Philly staple DJ Jazzy Jeff to the cast of characters to be included in the game. According to Hip Hop Wired, he will join a list that already includes the likes of Grandmaster Flash, DJ AM, DJ Z-Trip, DJ Shadow, and more. The game, from Activision Publishing, Inc., will be released this fall on all major gaming consoles and allows players to scratch, blend, and sample just as if you were really rocking the crowd.
“I am very, very excited DJ culture is finally getting its due,” said Jeff. “To have a song in ‘DJ Hero’ is a dream come true; to be a character someone can pick up the controller and select you and play is probably the biggest thing to happen to me in my career. Music is so much a part of everyone’s life, ‘DJ Hero’ is going to appeal to almost everybody.”
Now for those that don’t know, don’t think of the spin doctor as just Will “$20 million man” Smith’s sidekick. The accomplished Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer is one of the most respected men behind the wheels of steel and will be bringing two of his exclusive mixes to DJ Hero. The first mix will include “Shout” from British band Tears For Fears and “Eric B. is President” by Eric B. & Rakim. The second will be “Rock The Bells” by LL Cool J and “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Aranbee Pop Symphony Orchestra.
This is a great look for DJs everywhere. But since everyone else’s profession is getting respected and even getting a video game, can we get a little something something for the bloggers? We don’t even need a full-on Playstation game or anything, but how about a Game Boy? Sega Genesis? Hell, we’d even take Atari. Hook us up!
