‘Guitar Hero’ Blows Full Track List Load
As expected, the folks at Activision have been keeping us on the edge of our seats all summer, releasing information about Guitar Hero 5 little by little. About three weeks ago, for example, we learned that the game will be making unprecedented forays into glam, indie rock and hardcore. And just this Wednesday, Frank Deserto reported that Garbage woman Shirley Manson will have her very own avatar in Guitar Hero 5. But today, we finally get the motherlode of information we’ve been waiting for. Activision has finally released the full list of songs that will accompany the game’s September 1st release.
Like most Guitar Hero fare, there are some winners and some losers among the newly announced tracks. Winners include: David Bowie and Queen’s timeless collaboration “Under Pressure” (this girl will be singing it á la Jamie Stewart and Michael Gira, who covered the duet on Xiu Xiu’s most recent album, Women as Lovers), Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and the no-duh choice of the century, Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Among the losers are some sad ’90s holdovers, from 3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite” to Blink-182’s “Rock Show,” and cuts from current blah-core bands The Killers and Arctic Monkeys.
A full list of new and previously announced songs for Guitar Hero 5 is under the cut.
