Video: Opera Night @ Ido Sushi
Here's proof that New York City is a glorious melting pot of race and culture. Not too long ago, we discovered Ido Sushi, a non-pretentious sushi restaurant just outside west-side venue Luke & Leroy. While munching on Spicy Tuna rolls, we were told by our waitress that we should return the next day for their bi-monthly Opera Night. Intrigued, we came back with a camera crew to see what all the fuss was about. What we saw was Italian opera sung by Mexican, Asian and Russian crooners at a Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans -- doesn't get much more diverse and unique. Despite having 0 appreciation for opera, I was delighted by the whole experience, and moved that a small little restaurant was giving developing opera singers a venue where they could show off their talent.
