Street Hustlers: Epi-F-Any
Posted on
During my walk home from work yesterday, I was approached by a DIY artist, peddling his new album on the street. Clad in a backwards cap and ill fitted jeans, the guy wouldn't stop hounding me. Here's our conversation:

Him: Buy my album.
Me: Sorry. No cash. (lie)
Come on man, you a musician?
Actually, I'm a music journalist of sorts.
Oh no way man. You gotta check my crew out.
I tend to focus on indie rock. I'm not really a hip hop guy.
Whoa whoa. Why you gotta stereotype me like that? I never even told you what kind of music I make.
You're right, I'm sorry. What genre are you?
Hip hop. You going to buy an album or what?
I forked over $5 bucks for the album, and spent an hour listening to it last night. Based on the crew's ridiculous name, Epi-F-Any, my expectations were super low -- but whatever expectations I had were exceeded. Not that bad, and as young musicians, they seem to be finding their own style. Regardless, they're good hustlers.
