After The Jump Fest 2008

Posted on June 25, 2008
12_Stalkers_032.jpgMake Music New York and After The Jump carried out an ambitious effort this past Saturday (06/21/08), presenting a bevy of free concerts on multiple outdoor stages, with a goal to raise support for public school music programs. I've heard stories from all over, but I was stationed in Williamsburg, where the main stage was erected on North 6th street. I also made the trek down Bedford Ave. where several street corners had performers blocking the B61, and to the intersection of Grand and Berry where Passout Records was hosting Stalkers, The Hunt and Ex-Humans. I caught 16+ bands on 5 stages throughout the day, but my favorite of the pack was The Shackletons. You can see the main bulk of those photos on Spin.com, but right HERE is where you can see the exclusive photos of Stalkers' front man Andy Animal getting arrested. Ex-Humans continued to play as the cops gave out tickets for being punk in public, and as Andy got cuffed, the crowd cheered "FREE ANIMAL!". The MAN can't keep this scene down.
