The long and winding road of Sir Paul McCartney’s marriage to Heather Mills appears to have finally reached a resolution. According to a report published in The Daily Mail, Sir Paul, 65, will pay Mills, 39, nearly $140 million—the largest divorce settlement in British legal history. Mills, who split with the former Beatle in May 2006 after four years of marriage (she accused him of roughing her up and being regularly drunk and stoned), is rumored to receive a lump sum payment of $30 million and another $7 million each year until their four-year-old daughter Beatrice turns 18. Although details of the divorce agreement are confidential and yet to be finalized, the newspaper says Mills, who will not receive any of Sir Macca’s property, will be legally prevented from speaking about the marriage. That means no book deal or reality show about her post-Paul life. The couple will retain joint custody of their daughter and are said to be getting along better now than at the end of their marriage.
