First Peek at New Norah Jones – “Chasing Pirates” On Sale Tomorrow

Norah Jones - The Fall

You are not a hardcore Norah Jones fan. How do we know? Simple — if you were, you wouldn’t have even bothered reading a post with a heading like this one, because you’d already be intimately familiar with every available detail about Norah Jones’ new album, The Fall. You’d know that it was set for a November 17 release on Blue Note, and that the first single, “Chasing Pirates,” will be made available digitally tomorrow, October 13. You’d certainly be aware of the fact that Jones has been changing up her game ever since her second album departed significantly from the phenomenally successful template established on her debut, and that she’s never looked back since.

Would you also know that Jones was digging into some heavier grooves than ever on this album, and enlisting some heavy-duty players to do it? Sure you would. You’d probably even be able to call out a few, like drummer James Gadson of Bill Withers fame, guitarist Smokey Hormel (Beck, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits), and keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu). In fact, if you’re the sort who’s obsessive enough to have already gathered up all the aforementioned information, it’s likely that you’ve also searched out the new track on something that rhymes with “glue tube,” so you know that “Chasing Pirates” is an insistent little pop/R&B tune that sounds undeniably hit-bound. So, is there anything you don’t know about Norah Jones? What does she have in her pocket right now? Hey, how the hell did you know that one?
