Bon Jovi to Play Free Show in Central Park
Come on, why couldn't it have been the Boss!? Just kidding. (Sort of.) The other guy from New Jersey, Mr. Jon Bon Jovi, has just announced a complimentary gig in Central Park on July 12th. The "All-Star Concert in Central Park" is being held in honor of the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium on July 15th. Mayor Bloomberg announced the show today in a City Hall press conference, so you know he means business. This will be one of the final dates on his "Lost Highway" tour, and Jov can't think of a better city to land in: "I just traveled the world again, and New York is still the greatest city in the world," he says. Aww.
Tickets can be picked up at Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium, as well as the Brooklyn Cyclones stadium on Coney Island, and on MLB.com. If you're really lucky, you might snag one through some of the many promotional giveaways coming up in the next week or so.
Doors will open at 2pm for the 8pm show on the Great Lawn, and tickets will be limited to 60,000 people. YIKES. I'll probably stay home and listen to Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. But if you feel like some arena rock, it's a good month to live in New York.
