Stream: ‘Twilight: New Moon’ Soundtrack

Listen, guys: I am not into Twilight. I tried to give it a fair chance, get hip to what the kids are watchin’ and what-have-you. But as soon as Kristen Stewart started flying around on Robert Pattinson’s back, that was it. I was finished. If you love it, good for you. Me, I can’t see what all the fuss is about; and I certainly won’t be clamoring to see the sequel, Twilight: New Moon.
Still, the film does at least have something to recommend it: an incredibly impressive soundtrack, featuring a celebrated new Thom Yorke track, as well as cuts from Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear with Beach House’s Victoria Legrand, and a Bon Iver/St. Vincent collabo. So, if nothing else, the second installment of the Twilight series just might convince some teenagers that there’s more to music than the Jonas Brothers. (Given that the last Twilight soundtrack made a ginormous splash on the album charts, it’s looking pretty likely.) In fact, kids eager to listen to the soundtrack before its release date (that is, tomorrow) can stream it on MySpace. I like pretty much everything I’ve heard so far, but Lykke Li’s slow, creepily atmospheric “Possibility” is an early favorite.
A full track list is under the cut. And, for those who care about such things, Twilight: New Moon hits theaters November 20.
1. Death Cab for Cutie: “Meet Me on the Equinox”
2. Band of Skulls: “Friends”
3. Thom Yorke: “Hearing Damage”
4. Lykke Li: “Possibility”
5. The Killers: “A White Demon Love Song”
6. Anya Marina: “Satellite Heart”
7. Muse: “I Belong To You (New Moon remix)”
8. Bon Iver & St. Vincent: “Rosyln”
9. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: “Done All Wrong”
10. Hurricane Bells: “Monsters”
11. Sea Wolf: “The Violet Hour”
12. OK Go: “Shooting the Moon”
13. Grizzly Bear (w/ Victoria Legrand): “Slow Life”
14. Editors: “No Sound but the Wind”
15. Alexandre Desplat: “New Moon (The Meadow)”

“the second installment of the Twilight series just might convince some teenagers that there’s more to music than the Jonas Brothers.”
It kinda hurts when you degrade me like that. I am a teenager, and I regularily listen to music from Lykke Li, Thom Yorke/Radiohead, and Death Cab for Cutie. Muse and Band of Skulls are in my top 3 favourite bands as well.
Sorry if this was unintentional, but teenage Twilight fans are always copping slack for being “uneducated in music.” Which is quite ironic, because, most of the teen fanbase basically only listen to alternative.
And just to be totally oxymoronic right now, I actually really like the Jonas Brothers
