All in the Family: Amy Winehouse’s Dad Recording Album
Often, we hear that siblings of famous musicians are trying to launch careers on the back of their more talented kin. But parents? That’s a little more rare… and perhaps kind of pathetic, too. Especially if the parents in question happens to be Amy Winehouse’s dad, Mitch. You may remember our hero from such comments as, in response to questions about how his daughter was doing after her recent breast augmentation surgery, “Fantastic, fantastic. Her boobs are great as well.” So he’s a pretty classy guy already.
Now, 58-year-old cabbie Mitch Winehouse has his eye on the music industry, too. In fact, he’s already recording an album. While the record will feature some of his original compositions, Gigwise tells us that it will be mostly comprised of Frank Sinatra covers. (You know, because Ol’ Blue Eyes didn’t do them justice the first time.) Papa Winehouse apparently attributes Amy’s stardom to her upbringing, saying, “We were always singing in the house.” It seems that Mitch is already a minor star across the pond, where he’s starred in an online TV series that has him interviewing “Z-list celebrities” in his taxi and may appear on the reality show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
