Fink Firms Up Quick U.S. Tour

Bristol beatmeister Fin “Fink” Greenall has had an unusual evolution over the years, starting out as a DJ and focusing on an electronic-oriented approach to music-making, and eventually transforming himself into a groove-savvy singer/songwriter. Along the way, Fink has also worked as a producer and a remixer for everyone from Amy Winehouse to Elbow. His current sound, as heard on his 2009 album Sort Of Revolution, suggests what might happen if John Martyn, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Maxwell were left alone in a studio for a long weekend. The mix of folky, acoustic-based balladeering, dubby soundscapes, and R&B-noir arrangements is a bewitching and distinctive one, so it’ll be especially intriguing to see exactly how Fink pulls it off in concert on a brief, upcoming U.S. mini-tour.

Fink’s no stranger to the stage, and has opened up for the likes of Zero 7 and Massive Attack, but since he’s mostly been a U.K. phenomeon thus far, American audiences have the advantage of being able to see and hear him up close and personal, in a few small, fan-friendly venues. This outing is something of a strategic strike for Fink, hitting only a few cities, but if those who don’t live near one of his stops keep their fingers crossed, maybe he’ll be back with an expanded itinerary next time around. Check out Fink’s tour dates after the jump.
