Video: Babies Dance to D.A.F.

I have just stumbled upon my moment of zen for the rest of 2009. Linked below is a video for German industrial band Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft’s “Die Lüge,” a particularly stompy electronic track released in 2003. The band have a rich history, dating back to 1979. Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F. for short) were one of the first wave of German electronic music pioneers, harnessing a powerful sound and pioneering early EBM (electronic body music) culture. The band is best known for their sardonic, aggressive dance numbers, the most memorable being the ironic “Der Mussolini” and the scathing “Kebab-Träume.”
History aside, this video isn’t necessarily about the music, or the band’s legacy, but instead, the genius use of overdubbing. I’m not so sure these babies are truly jumping to “Die Lüge” as if they were in a fog-filled club, but I’d like to believe it.
