Lil Wayne Calls On Fall Out Boy, Travis Barker and More For Rebirth
For all of you that know the music industry, the fourth quarter of the year is when the big dogs come out to play, and in hip-hop there’s no bigger dog than Lil Wayne. On the cusp of releasing his rap/rock hybrid album Rebirth, Wayne has apparently called some more big dogs in on the fun to be featured on the upcoming set.
According to Billboard, Wayne’s next disc will feature guest spots from fellow tattoo addict Travis Barker, along with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, his protégé Drake and rockers Fall Out Boy as well. The album, set for a December 15th release, which will be mostly rock sans a couple of hip-hop tracks sprinkled in various places on the LP, will see Wayne wielding his axe as he will reportedly be featured playing guitar on almost every track.
Wayne explained his affinity for rock music in a previous interview, saying, “When people hear me say rock, they may get a little scared like, ‘Oh, God. What is he going to do?,” Wayne said. “When I said I was doing a rock album, it was about doing a freedom thing. This album isn’t hip-hop. When I do my Carter albums, I know I’ve got to rap, I know I’ve got to spit. I know the words I’ve got to say and the subjects I’ve got to talk about. I also know the things I shouldn’t say, the things I shouldn’t talk about. There’s none of those limits on this album. I say what I want, how I want. That’s what this album is, a freedom album. And rock is the avenue that gives you that freedom.”
Weezy F. Hendrix…. please say the Hendrix.
