My Morning Jacket Rocks ‘American Dad’ on November 22nd

What’s the true telltale sign that a band has really made it big? Grammy win? Please. Hall of Fame induction? Pshaw. These days, if you truly want to tread the top tier of the rock world, you’ve got to get yourself animated — and we’re not talking about shaking your ass onstage, either. In the tradition of Kiss and Marilyn Manson, who have already entered Seth McFarlane’s cartoon universe on that other show of his, Kentucky’s favorite sons My Morning Jacket will be turning two-dimensional when they guest on American Dad on November 22nd.
This is no casual cameo appearance either — there will be no less than six MMJ songs featured in the show, and not only will the band members be doing their own voices, beardy comedy phenom Zach Galifanakis will also be popping up as the voice of an overzealous My Morning Jacket obsessive. The band’s label, ATO, is even marking this special occasion by releasing a digital EP that will include all six songs used on the show plus dialogue excerpts. So, will this make the Family Guy gang jealous enough to dream up a plot where Brian becomes the newest member of Animal Collective? Hey, we can dream, can’t we?
