Oh No! Dan Deacon Hospitalized

Well, it’s Friday. So I guess that means it’s time for your bummer of the week: The amazing Dan Deacon has been hospitalized and has had to cancel the remainder of his current tour. Here’s the Twitter/Facebook announcement from his label, Carpark:
hey dan deacon is having some serious health issues with his back and has to cancel the remaining dates of his north american tour. we hope dan gets better soon. -carpark
The canceled tour dates (via Pitchfork) include:
11-13 Troy, NY – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
11-14 Worcester, MA – Clark University
11-15 Ithaca, NY – Ithaca College
11-16 Purchase, NY – SUNY Purchase
11-18 Baltimore, MD – The Ottobar
While this certainly blows for the college kids who are going to miss one of the best performers in the country, it’s good to see Deacon getting the treatment he needs. Here’s hoping his recovery is swift and robust, and that he’ll be back in front of audiences in the new year (when he’ll supposedly be rescheduling the canceled dates). Get well soon, Dan!

Wow…carrying the entire Baltimore DIY scene on his shoulders for the past four years must have really done a number on Dan’s back. Get well soon, Double D!
