Liam Gallagher + Other Oasis Dudes = New, Noel-Free Band

Who can keep track of the Oasis-breakup drama anymore? (Especially when there’s the Aerosmith saga to keep abreast of!) Well, after weeks of brotherly mud-slinging, it looks like there’s finally been some concrete action. Rolling Stone tells us that Liam Gallagher is forming a brand-new band with guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock. Or, as shrewed Oasis fans will notice, all of his former bandmates, minus Noel. It may look, feel, and sound like Oasis… but, at the very least, it will have a different name and only include a single Gallagher brother. (Which means, I suppose, no more fun intra-group feuds to distract from a lackluster musical output.)

Liam says it will only be a matter of time until the boys are back on the road, because “I always miss singing songs. I miss the people.” He also speculates about the underlying causes of the band’s breakup, which took place in August and involved a particularly juvenile-sounding spat between Liam and Noel over a guitar. “To be quite honest, I think Noel wanted out,” said Liam. “We had an argument — but we’ve had bigger ones, about more important people. Basically, I think he wanted out, wanted something different, but he hadn’t got the bollocks to tell the band or the fans.”
