After making a name for himself in the blogosphere in ‘08 by crafting a barrage of (unofficial) remixes for the likes of Crystal Castles and others, Montreal-based Mike Silver (a.k.a. CFCF) has gone on to hone a slew of top-notch (and officially sanctioned) remixes, including an awesome re-rub of Sally Shapiro’s “Love In July” (the enigmatic Shapiro returned the favor and sang on his single “The Explorers”). Earlier this year he teased us with his groovy Panesian Nights EP, and Silver just stepped out with his full-length debut album, Continent.

Silver’s sound has a lot more in common with Hot Chip’s quirky brand of digi-punk than anything his fellow countrymen A-Trak, MSTKRFT, and Chromeo have ever done, and that’s a good thing. On his discofied cover of Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 pop hit”Big Love,” he hits all the right notes on a tune that’s the perfect for any tango in the night.
