Yeasayer’s New Video Is an Interactive Acid Trip, and Everybody’s Naked
These days, indie rockers aren’t allowed to make a video where people have clothes on. It’s just a rule. Matt and Kim did a censored version, then Girls went XXX. Then The Flaming Lips shot a nudie clip with about a million friends. (Wayne got naked, too! Like I didn’t already have a big enough crush on him!) And now it’s Yeasayer’s turn. But their entry certainly raises the stakes.
When you visit amblingalp.com, you’ll find an extremely NSFW video. But it’s isn’t just a video; you can use the mouse to change the camera angle and click through five different scenes. There’s naked people in a creepy, mirrored, octogonal room; naked people running through a field; naked people traveling on horseback; more naked people in that weird room; and, finally, naked people blissing out on the grass. Everything’s shot in a sort of ’70s/Super 8 way, with diffuse colors and swirly psychedelic lighting. It is, in short, the hottest free acid trip on the web. I, for one, wouldn’t mind smoking whatever’s in Yeasayer’s pipe.
