Bob Dylan’s Takin’ it to the Streets For Christmas
That story from earlier this year about Bob Dylan being apprehended by a clueless young policewoman who mistook him for a disorderly vagrant should have provided an indication that the iconic singer/songwriter likes to keep things “street,” but now there’s even more evidence pointing in that direction. Apparently Dylan, who has never exactly been a publicity hound, is releasing only one interview to the media in conjunction with his new holiday album, Christmas in the Heart, and the only place you’ll find it is the International Network of Street Papers.
Go fish, Rolling Stone, so what if you’ve given 5,000 stars to every sub-par Dylan release over the last 35 years? Bob’s interview with MTV-affiliated veteran journalist Bill Flanagan will come to the world strictly from the hands of the poverty-stricken people who profit directly from the sales of INSP publications. So if you want to find out what Zimmy thinks about the holiday season, Christmas songs, the new recording, and a variety of other topics from bank-robber/anti-hero Pretty Boy Floyd to Babe Ruth, you’ll have to hail that homeless man with the sack full of Street Sheet, or whatever the INSP paper in your area might be. It’s all in keeping with the charitable spirit of the album itself, sales of which will go to organizations that combat world hunger. Once upon a time, Dylan sang about the injustices crippling our planet, but these days it looks like he’s getting proactive about tackling those troubles head-on.

Props to Dylan for standing up for such a great cause. This album seems pretty strange on paper but he really makes it work. Definitely worth a listen if you haven’t heard it yet.
