I read somewhere that Major Lazer are getting a show on Adult Swim. Now, after seeing this video for “Keep It Goin’ Louder,” off their debut album, Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, I can totally see it becoming a reality. Reality in the loosest definition of the word, of course.

Honestly, this video creeps me out. In fact, I refuse to watch it more than once out of fear for extreme night terrors. What’s up with those girls’ faces? What did that dude just pull out of his stomach? Ah forget it, I don’t even want to write about this video anymore.

Let’s talk about the song instead, okay? It’s pretty good, but I wonder what real dub, dancehall, or whatever else Major Lazer are playing with, fans would think of this song, and group as a whole. There’s no doubt in my mind Diplo and Switch, the duo behind Lazer (who have both produced tracks for M.I.A.), revere the genres they’re working in, but I also can’t help but feel like they’re making fun of it. Which isn’t a big deal, really, but it keeps me from taking them seriously, and I get far more enjoyment from talented musicians taking their songs more seriously than their jokes about their songs. That’s just me, though.
