Hip Hop Hall Of Fame Gets $10 Million Boost

MonopolyMoneyGuyThe history of hip-hop is apparently in good hands as the revamped Hip Hop Hall Of Fame has secured a nice amount of funding, to the tune of $10 million. According to AllHipHop, the Hall was originally created in 1992 by JT “J-Train” Thompson, a Brooklyn born Queens/Harlem raised hip-hop entrepreneur and current Chairman of the HOF. Representatives for the new, Manhattan-based project recently announced that they had secured the funding for the Hall Of Fame, which will house artifacts from Hip-Hop’s rich history, exhibits and workshops. It will also feature community outreach programs with hip hop pioneers such as Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Kool Herc, and others, who are on the museum’s advisory board.

“We wanted to give the fans and the lovers of Hip Hop around the world an opportunity to give to the ‘museum cause’ and to have a ‘pride of ownership stake and voice’ in what we do at the HHHOF Museum Complex and in the communities we serve,” Thompson said. “We have been often imitated but will never be duplicated, as Hip-Hop legends have paved the way, and our goal is to expand the culture, with ‘barrier breaking’ leadership and development internationally well into the 21st century.”

For all those who’d like to take a walk down hip hop’s memory lane, the Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum and Entertainment Complex is set to open in New York City in late 2010.
