Marv Albert and 50 Cent Come To Blows?
So everybody’s favorite bully, 50 Cent, has been known to throw a few threats here and there at a rapper or two but if you let The Los Angeles Times tell it, the rapper and his entourage are getting buck with sportscasters these days too. A rumor, generated by a writer for the LA Times, has suggested that G-Unit got physical with long-time NBA announcer Marv Albert backstage at a recent taping of the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
According to HipHopDX, the writer, who was in attendance at the taping, described there being “a fist or two flying,” although he never mentioned Albert as being one of those involved. Apparently the show’s security prevented members of Fif’s crew from using a phone located in a room belonging to Albert, who was a guest on the show that night. Upset at not being able to use the phone, the entourage, not recognizing Albert, allegedly threw blows at him. The sportscaster even said that he heard accounts that 50 himself landed a punch on him as well. But as so many of these sensationalized accounts, Albert has responded to the rumors, saying yesterday that not only are these rumors false, but that he doesn’t appreciate the inaccuracies that are being floated around concerning him.
“I couldn’t even tell you what the guy looked like or the security guys looked like,” Albert told the Associated Press. “They embellish. It keeps getting embellished more than anything else. What do you say, it’s just wrong.” He continued, “I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. It will be Jimmy Kimmel got punched…I’m sure this will be funny to me in a couple of days. It’s not funny to me now, obviously.”
Damn that rumor mill. Glad that everything is cleared up. Like Omar from The Wire, I believe that Fif has a code that I’m not so sure that Marv fits into. Hopefully Marv’s goons won’t try to retaliate.
