Wu-Tang Affiliate Attemps To Break World’s Freestyle Record

Wu-tang-logoFor some rappers, freestyling has become a lost art, something that was a thing of the past. Not for M-Eighty. In fact, the Wu-Tang affiliated MC is putting hoping that his verbal skills will lead to a pretty bright future, as he attempts to break the Guinness Book of World Records’ time for the longest freestyle ever.

According to HipHopWired, the Midwest-native, who has released three solo albums to date, is gearing up to try to smash the current record of 8 hours and 45 minutes that was posted by Canadian rapper D.O. Confident in his ability to withstand the test of time, the rapper is going into the event, which will be made available for the general public to observe, with a positive attitude.

“I don’t think it was ever a question of whether I could freestyle for x amount of time; I believe you can do anything you set your mind to,” said M-Eighty.

More than just the bragging rights of being able to claim a world record, the attempt will also serve as a fundraiser for a worthy cause. Partnering with the International Studies Program at Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis and the Timmy Foundation, the rapper is hoping to raise $30,000 to be utilized to build a secondary school in Africa.

“I chose to take on this obstacle because at the end of the day I am providing a great service to others and doing something life altering for an entire community in the name of education.”

No date has yet been set for the record-breaking attempt. But in case you hip hop junkies want to take a live look at what could possibly be a history-making MC, M-Eighty is scheduled to share the stage with Raekwon at The Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana on December 8 and also set to appear at the IUPUI Student Center on December 19th.
