Queen Elizabeth to Lady Gaga: “What Are You Wearing?”
It shouldn’t come as news to anyone with eyes or ears (much less both) that Lady Gaga doesn’t compromise her in-your-face style for anything or anybody. So it’s no great shock to discover that the 23-year-old pop diva plans to keep it real in her command performance for the 83-year-old Queen of England at the Royal Variety Performance Benefit Concert at the Blackpool Opera House on December 7th. Gaga will be appearing as part of a star-studded, strikingly disparate lineup that includes everyone from Miley Cyrus to Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler.
So, how does Gaga plan to represent for the royals in the face of all that British pomp and circumstance? In an interview, she made it clear she’s not backing down on her attitude one bit, saying “I’m ready for the Queen…I have enough queens every night for a lifetime.” And when queried about he wardrobe plans for the big event, she replied in a characteristically forthright manner “I’m sure it will be some latex fashion venture.” While it may be all well and good for Gaga to show up at the Blackpool bash in some skimpy, skintight latex outfit, we’d like to go on record expressing our fervent hope that the Queen doesn’t suddenly decide to start taking her own haute couture tips from LG.
