Holiday Gift Guide: Nine Inch Nails’ eBay Auction

Oh, Trent Reznor. What will you think of next? You supposedly severed your ties with teh Internets several months ago. But we knew you couldn’t live without us for too long. I mean, what do you do when you have a whole bunch equipment you need to sell ASAP? You will, of course, turn to eBay to offload it.
In a message on the band’s website, Nine Inch Nails has this to say:
We’ve been going through the NIN touring and studio rigs and are getting rid of a large selection of gear and equipment the band is no longer in need of. It’s being listed on eBay here. We do not know which (if any) tour these items are from unless specified, nor can we get any items autographed, so please do not ask. Hundreds of items will be listed over the next several weeks such as guitars, keyboards, amplifiers, drums, staging, anvil cases, cables, rack/outboard gear, guitar effects, and pedal boards. Check the eBay page regularly for new listings, or follow @nineinchnails on Twitter for updates. More information can be found in the descriptions of each item.
So, basically, Trent and co. are selling their extra crap, but they’re not going to even consider throwing fans a bone by personalizing it in any way. Nice, guys. But that doesn’t seem to be deterring the masses from bidding. There are 20 items — all guitars — on offer as of this writing. So far, the biggest ticket item is an ESP guitar decorated with Fragile album art, which would-be buyers have already bidded up to $2, 274. That may be expensive, sure. But is there any better way to win the undying affection of that die-hard industrial fan in your life this holiday season?
