D’oh! Andrew WK and People Under The Stairs Re-Record ‘The Simpsons Theme’

homer-simpsonIn between touring and running Santos Party House in New York, Andrew WK somehow managed to find time to record a special version of The Simpsons theme song with L.A.-based hip-hop crew People Under the Stairs. The complete theme song will represent artists from many different genres of music performing the song. The final episode of the 20th season is scheduled to air on FOX on Thursday, January 14th, 2010. Andrew plays piano and scats on the track, while People Under the Stairs added turntable scratches and other effects. According to PUTS’ label, Om Records, the new version of the song, originally composed by Danny Elfman in 1989 and updated at the beginning of the third season by Alf Clausen, took two days to come together. While we’re curious to hear the new version of the song, it’s hard to imagine another respite without a new episode of The Simpsons. A moment of silence, please.

This is ridiculously badass! Been loving People Under the Stairs’ music for a long time, and they completely deserve something like this. I’m looking forward to it.
